I can't believe my water bottle survived SXSW! I would bring it for the conference during the day, but once I was going to clubs and bars they're not allowed. I did manage to sneak it in sometimes, but otherwise I had to leave it in an alley or field and hope it was there when I got back. There was one place that had a box for them, and said you could pick it up afterwards. I thought for sure that was the last I'd see of this puppy, since you could just root through and grab what you wanted. But miraculously it was there, untouched, every time!
I'm in Fort Stockton, TX, which has been a really friendly place so far. I was able to listen to some of the bands I liked from South by' in the car and so far the band Amason (pronounced like the rain forest, but with an "s") has been the most solid. They have really awesome melodies, nice arrangements and their album is really well produced. Sound is like early Coldplay, but with a more contemporary indie-pop feel.
